Last summer, I brought my old ATT phone (older cheap Samsung) that had web capabilities and it worked fine. I was told any phone that uses a SIM card would work, so that would be ATT (formerly Cingular) or T-Mobile. I had my phone unlocked in Vietnam which was cheap and use the short-term service there. I sold my phone before I left.
